Our Story
Swing for Scoliosis was founded out of personal experience with scoliosis. Our daughter was diagnosed at age 12, and after a challenging journey that included a spinal fusion surgery, we were inspired to make a difference for others affected by this condition. Since our inaugural event two years ago, we have successfully raised and donated $30,000 to the IWK Orthopaedic Department.
Our Mission
In partnership with the IWK Foundation and endorsed by Dr. Ron El-Hawary, IWK’s Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedics, Professor of Surgery (Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery), Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University, 100% of the net proceeds raised will help provide patients with the opportunity to access modern scoliosis treatment such as the Novel Spine Growth Measurement Software which helps detect early curvatures associated with scoliosis.
